DY.ng – DIGITAL YOUTH NIGERIA
OVERVIEW OF INITIATIVE
DY.ng- Digital Youth Nigeria is aimed at equipping 500,000 young people with digital skills through available Youth Development Centres and specialized Enterprise Centres in all six geo-political zones of the country.
DY.ng LEAVERAGES
- D- Digital literacy and digital skills acquisition delivered through 64 digital hubs in partnership with Junior Achievement Nigeria (Strategic Implementation Partners) alongside FMYSD Youth Development Centres.
- E- Entrepreneurship training from 6 Enterprise Centres of the Central Bank (CBN) and 12 – 24 Regional Youth Development Centres in the 6 Geo-Political Zones offering 5 different trainings with other training partnerships under SIP, NITDA and JAN.
- E- Improvement of employability through Work Experience Programme (WEP) that pairs candidates with corporate employers to get on-the-job experience in addition to those that will become self-employed through start-ups and SMEs.
- L- Leaders of today will have mentorship provided the FMYSD’s Citizenship and Leadership Training Centre (CLTC), Nigerian Youth Parliament, NYCN.

RATIONALE FOR DY.ng
- Youth unemployment rate averaged 23.63% from 2014 until 2018
- Youth unemployment reached an all time high of 38% in Q2 of 2018
- Over 60% of our graduates are unemployable because they lack basic digital skills to compete in today’s global economy
- 4.5 million enter job market yearly– only 10% can be absorbed
- High mismatch between supply and demand for youth labour
- Poor collaboration across sectors of the economy.
FMYSD YOUTH DEVELOPMENT CENTRES
THE FACILITIES
- Upgrade four MYSD Youth Centres, in each of the 6 geo-political zones to adequately support planned in-take numbers.
- Upgrade will include environmental upgrades, computing infrastructure of 300 computer workstations, furniture and internet connectivity.
